Server and NAS setup

We install and configure a server or NAS: shared folders, access rights, remote file access and automatic backups. We work as a team and use proven systems such as Synology DSM, QNAP or Windows Server. We hand all passwords and keys over through a secure channel and do not store them in plain text. The setup is done remotely, and if disks or a network cable need to be connected physically, your employee does it following our instructions.

Who it is for

For offices and studios that need shared files, a project archive or a local storage for a small team. It does not suit you if you need a high-load server farm or a server that must meet industry certification requirements.

Not included

To avoid surprises, here is what the base price does not cover and what is discussed separately:

  • Buying the server, hard drives and network equipment
  • Migrating more than one terabyte of data without a separate estimate
  • Hardware warranty and replacing failed disks
  • Ongoing support after handover, which is arranged under a separate contract

FAQ

The server, the data on it and all settings belong to you. We hand over the administrator passwords, the folder layout and a guide, and then remove our temporary access. Operating system and software licences are issued in your name.

We include two rounds of structure changes: renaming folders, changing rights and group membership, and reconfiguring the backup schedule. We fix our own mistakes for free. New nodes, such as a second server, count as separate work.

Usually 3 to 7 working days if the device is reachable and the network already works. The timing stretches if disks need to be ordered or we wait for the provider. We confirm the date after the inspection and the task list.

The device model and its current firmware, access to the office network, a list of folders and people who should get access, and the approximate data volume. We also need clear rules: who edits what and how long archives are kept.

For a NAS we configure disk mirroring, so the failure of one disk does not stop the work. This is not a replacement for backups: we set up copies on a separate medium or in the cloud. Replacing a disk and recovering data is estimated separately.

Yes, but we recommend access only through VPN rather than an open port. We enable open access only when two-factor authentication and a clear list of users are in place. Otherwise the server becomes an easy target for password guessing.
